Social Media in Science

The importance of communicating science is often discussed and social media offers a wide range of possibilities and formats to do so. But how can young scientists use social media to increase the reach of their work and at the same time build a network to boost their future career?

Our new online course provides an introduction to the use of social media in science communication. The course consists of pre-recorded lectures and accompanying materials which participants can work through at their own pace. Following a general introduction lecture, we will perform a “self-analysis” to identify social media formats which match the personal communication goals, skills and resources. Moreover, experts in the most important social media formats will present their success story and give insights into how to use the respective communication channel effectively. The course will be concluded by a live Q&A session with all speakers on Friday, December 4th at 10 a.m.

Course participants can get a certificate of participation. To receive the certificate, all lectures of the course should be watched and participation in the live Q&A session on Friday, December 4th is mandatory.
