Hands-on plant breeding at NPZ
May 17, 2020 – May 20, 2020 Groß Lüsewitz / Poel Island
***Update: Currently it is doubtful, whether the Summer School will take place this year against the background of the current COVID-19 outbreak. The funders (BMBF/PtJ) will make the final decision on this issue in early to mid April, when the regulations for May will be clear. All people registered will be informed by email.***
The Summer School will take place at the renowned breeding company NPZ (Norddeutsche Pflanzenzucht Hans-Georg Lembke) in Groß Lüsewitz and Poel Island.
Topics include testing resistance, marker lab, phytopathology, crossing, commercial breeding and assessment of plants. We will have a look on different crops ranging from rape seed and legumes to grasses. You will gain insights into the work routines of a breeding company and hands-on training.
The actual summer school takes place May 18-20. On the evening of May 17, we invite you for dinner and a peer-coaching barcamp as a warm-up in Rostock.
- The summer school is open to all young plant scientists. However, the capacity is limited. PhD students and Postdocs working on BMBF funded projects will be preferred.
- Registration closes when the maximum is reached ("first come, first serve") or latest April 8th, 2020.
- You will receive a conformation of registration or a rejection after registration is closed.
- With a confirmatory response you will get all information on schedule, room contingent for accommodation and further organization remarks.
The summer school is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs may be reimbursed for young scientists working on BMBF funded projects.
