On day 1, the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) gave insights into its major research infrastructures as well as advanced data analysis tools. We visited the Federal ex-situ gene bank, one of the world’s largest germplasm collections, and the PhenoSphere with its highly controlled environmental conditions and innovative rhizotron and container system for phenotyping.
On day 2, two companies at the interface opened their facilities for the PLANT 2030 ACADEMY. TraitGenetics and SU Biotec conducted applied plant science and offered various services for plant breeding. We gained insights into high-throughput genotyping, double haploids techniques and marker analyses as well as career opportunities for plant scientists.
